The Troy Legion baseball team opened their summer season earlier this week.
Wyalusing 9, Troy 5 Josh Mattocks pitched five strong innings, giving up two earned runs on five hits, while striking out six. Delbert Lewis surrendered five runs in the sixth to pick up the loss. Mattocks delivered three hits at the plate, including two doubles, and Chance Lantz added two hits.
Isaac Havens had a double and Tyler Hodge and Landis Zimmerman each had a single.
Wyalusing 6, Troy 2 (4 innings) Havens and Lantz both pitched in the second game, which was ended early due to darkness. Hodge, Josh Mattocks, Jarod Mattocks and Zimmerman had Troy’s hits, with a double by Zimmerman.
Wellsboro 8, Troy 0 Nate Smith was tagged with the loss for Troy, giving up four unearned runs and two earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. Delbert Lewis threw five and 1/3 innings, surrendering two earned runs. Chance Lantz went one inning with one strikeout.
Josh Mattocks, Lantz and Darton Harwick had hits for Troy in the loss.
The Troy Legion squad will return to action Monday when they travel to Athens.
