SUMMER BASEBALL: BRADFORD COUNTY JUNIOR BOBCATS PICK UP WIN AT CORNING TOURNAMENT (2012-06-09)

After dropping their opening game of the Corning Tournament 7-0 to the Corning Legion squad, the Bradford County Junior Bobcats rebounded and beat the Corning Red team 7-4.

Towanda’s Nick Place led the Bobcats at the plate with a double, two singles and three RBI. Wellsboro’s Brandon Owlett had two singles and scored a run, while Troy Stivason of Athens had a double and scored a run.

Canton’s Connor Route had a single, an RBI and scored two runs, while NEB’s James Zajac, Troy’s Josh Mattocks and Dillian Bates of Wyalusing each had a single and an RBI. Zajac, Towanda’s Sawyer Strope and Canton’s Garrett Wesneski scored runs for the Bobcats.

Chase Pepper of Canton threw four innings, giving up three earned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking two batters. Towanda’s Tristen James went three innings, giving up no runs on three hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Owlett threw one scoreless inning with one strikeout and one walk.
