CanTroSports The Canton and Troy Legion baseball teams played Tuesday, with Canton coming away with a 17-5 win.
Ryan Ball picked up the win for Canton by pitching three shut-out innings with five strikeouts. Wes Moore threw the final two innings, allowing five runs.
Ball led Canton at the plate as well, with a double and three runs scored. Garrett Wesneski and Emmett Watson each had a single and two runs scored, while Kaleb Route had a single and a run scored.
Tanner Machmer and Scotty Rockwell each scored two runs and Josiah Bardo, Trevor Route, Wes Moore, Kyle Landis and Mason Martell each scored one run.
For Troy, Delbert Lewis was tagged with the loss, going 2 2/3 innings with two strikeouts and eleven runs allowed. Jarod Mattocks pitched 1 and 1/3 innings with one strikeout and three unearned runs given up, while Chance Lantz and Darton Harwick combined to throw 1 inning and allowing three unearned runs.
Mattocks led Troy with a single and two runs scored, while Lewis and Lantz added a single and a run scored each. Tyler Hodge also scored a run.
According to Troy Coach Steve Mattocks, the game was “marred by walks and errors, and in the middle of a rain shower.”
The two teams will meet again Monday in Troy for a double-header, with the first game starting at 5 pm.
