LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: Canton Majors Top Troy (2012-06-24)

The Canton and Troy Major All-Star teams met Sunday in the Midwest Division of the District 15 Little League playoffs. Canton came away with the 7-2 win to improve to 2-0 in pool play. Troy drops to 1-2.
Brendon Landis had a triple, a double and three runs scored to lead Canton at the plate.
Daniel Colton added two singles and a run scored, while Nick Schoonover, Kaden Martell, Taylor Acla and Nate Deeghan all had singles. Martell, Acla and Clayton Tymeson each scored once.
Landis picked up the win for Canton on the mound, going five innings with eight strikeouts. Martell closed the game in the sixth inning, striking out two.
For Troy, Anthony Dietrick had two singles, and Clark Jackson, Bailey Cohick and Murray added a single each. Nate Martin and Cohick scored Troy’s two runs.
Canton will return to action Tuesday when they travel to take on Northern Tier.
On Wednesday, Troy will host Northern Tier, while Canton will host Southern Tioga.
