LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: Canton Minors Down Troy (2012-06-25) CanTroSports Troy - The Canton Minor All-Star team scored early and often here Monday, downing Troy 24-8.
Canton sent sixteen batters to the plate in the first inning, jumping out to a 12-0 lead. Joel Schoonover collected four hits in the game, including a triple and a double, while scoring three runs.
Timmy Ward had a single, reached base safely in all five of his at-bats and scored five runs. Gavin Tymeson added two hits and four runs scored, while Carter Route and Tyler Williams had a single and a double each, and each scored two runs.
Cameron Bellows and Reese Allen each had a single and scored twice, and Aaron Sparling had a single and one run scored.
Garrett Storch and Brendan Matthews each scored one run.
For Troy, Hayden Dewey, Jacob Deitrick and Alex Seeley each had a single and a run scored.
Colton Roupp added a single, while Sheldon Seymour scored three runs. Caleb Binford scored twice, and Trevor Williams scored one run.
Canton, coached by George Schoonover, Brock Kitchen and Craig Route, are now 2-0 in pool play. They will host Southern Tioga on Wednesday at 6pm.
Troy, coached by Jim Dewey, stand at 1-1 in pool play. They will travel to take on Northern Tier Wednesday at 6pm.
