LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL: Canton Minors Finish Pool Play 3-0 (2012-06-27)
CanTroSports The Canton minor All-Star team beat Southern Tioga 9-2 Wednesday to give them the #1 seed coming out of the Midwest Division in the District 15 playoffs.
After a slow start, Canton put two runs across in each of the fourth and fifth innings , to take a 4-2 lead. The 9-10 year olds then scored five in the sixth.
Garrett Storch led Canton at the plate with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Tyler Williams added a triple, and Gavin Tymeson and Carter Route each had a double and scored twice.
Aaron Sparling had a double and a run scored, and Timmy Ward added a single and scored once. Joel Schoonover scored Canton's remaining run.
Four pitchers saw action on the mound for Canton, as Tymeson, Schoonover, Ward and Brendan Matthews combined for fifteen strikeouts.
Canton will host Wellsboro, the #2 seed out of the West Division, in the next round of the District 15 playoffs. The game is set for Friday at 6pm.
